BLW Bircher Muesli Bars
The perfect baby breakfast, toddler snack or afternoon baking activity. These strawberry and pear BLW bircher muesli bars are packed with slow release energy from the oats, protein from the nuts and egg and sweetness from the fruit. This makes it a major winner with me but, more importantly, with the smaller members of the family! They take less than 30 minutes to make and you can prep them ahead…perfect for busy mornings!
These were a big hit! I used sesame seeds and very finely chopped pistachios in my mix but really, anything goes! Pumpkin seeds or sunflower seeds would be fabulous too. Likewise…the strawberries could be blueberries or raspberries and the pear could be a grated apple. This is such a versatile mix, once you’ve made it and got the basics, the sky is the limit. Plus…you can freeze them for up to a month. Amazing.
Without the chopped nuts, I’d offer this as a finger food from around 7 months. But this is, as always, dependent on your child and their ability to chew.
So, onto that recipe…BLW bircher muesli bars…
Baking with Allergies
If you wanted to make this dairy-free just sub your yoghurt for your preferred dairy-free alternative. Provided your oats are gluten-free, they already hit the mark there. Obviously, you will need to be confident your child doesn’t have a nut allergy before offering this muesli bar. You could remove the ground almonds and add either 1/3 cup coconut or simply some extra oats if you wanted to avoid nuts. The egg is used as a binding agent in this recipe, although it will work without. Just expect a slightly crumblier end result.
Why not pin it for later?
