These BLW porridge bites are a really great place to start when you are weaning. I chose to begin BLW with breakfasts and found it worked really well. These porridge bites are quick, easy and healthy and can easily be adapted to have all kinds of fruit and veggies in there. I’ve made them with raspberries, coconut, mango…in fact…these porridge bites can have pretty much anything stashed away in there.
Two years on, these BLW porridge bites are still a firm favourite with my toddler. In fact, we have them as a yummy afternoon snack. Not just for breakfast, it turns out! Oats are full of slow-releasing energy and their soft texture means that they can be enjoyed from 6 months- even if you don’t have any teeth! Start out plain if you like and introduce different flavours as you grow in confidence.
These are a new take on traditional porridge fingers that take about 5 minutes total to make. As I said, I whip these up in all kinds of fun combos; carrot cake, banana and courgette, vanilla and apricot, chocolate and strawberry…honestly the possibilities are endless once you have the basic method. The recipe below is cinnamon and raisin, which is a popular choice in our house.

Babies enjoy these and they are an easy breakfast when you have a million things going on! Honestly, if you are giving baby-led weaning a go. These are a MUST. I’ve had amazing feedback from real Mum’s who love these and make them again and again. I have tried freezing these and they are just as yummy – but, they are so quick to make you probably won’t need to!
Let me know if your little one likes them. I love a tag in a cute baby-food picture!!
