Okay, so not JUST for toddlers. But so much of the cool Halloween food in the shops is aimed at older kids and almost all of it is full of sugar, I thought I’d write a post to show that the littler members of the family don’t have to miss out. My sis-in-law is having a Halloween party for a big group of toddlers and their Mama’s so I’ve been playing around with some fun food ideas to take with us.

Amazing what you can do with a wafer and some fruit and nuts (obviously the usual disclaimer about being careful giving whole nuts to very little ones – they are a choking hazard). I
Next up! How about some yummy pear crisps at your Halloween feast? They are soooo easy to make. Simply slice into thin discs, place on baking paper, sprinkle with cinnamon and bake at 90c fan for a couple of hours. So many of you asked for this recipe I just had to include it.
Okay, how about some more cute stuff? I used a bat shaped cutter to make fruit bats from Melon and made a silly spooky bagel face. Halloween breakfast in 2 minutes flat!
Or, a spooky spider made from raisins and half a plum? (thanks to Grace at Eats Amazing for the inspo – if you haven’t ooogled her blog and Bento shop yet you must). The eyes are Heavenly Halos and the mouth is just a bit of flesh from the plum.
And to drink? How about a spooky green smoothie…complete with eyeball poking out of the top!?
The eyeball is completely edible and really easy to make! I used a cake-pop mold. All you need to do is pop a blueberry in the bottom, then a squeeze of fruit puree (I used a coconut squishee from Heavenly to make it super quick) and topped with yoghurt. Freeze for about 1/2 an hour and you are good to go!
They look ace on top of the green smoothie! The smoothie is just a frozen mix of kale, kiwi, spinach and mango blitzed up with orange. Perfect for a healthy snack before the trick or treating begins!
